What is ToolboxID?
ToolboxID is an independent third-party contractor verification platform. We review contractor credentials, licenses, and insurance documentation and maintain a public directory of verified contractors.
How do I verify a contractor?
Enter their 6-digit ToolboxID number or business name in the search bar on our homepage or the Verify page. You'll see their verification status and public profile instantly.
How much does it cost to apply?
Applying for verification is free. Applications are reviewed in the order received, with an estimated wait time of 6-12 months. For priority processing within 7 business days, you can choose our Expedited Review for $497/year.
Will I be charged if my application is denied?
No. When you choose Expedited Review, your card is authorized for $497 but not charged until your application is approved. If your application is denied, the hold is released and you are never billed.
What does 'verified' mean?
Verified means our team has reviewed the documentation provided by the contractor at a specific point in time, including licenses, insurance, and business credentials. It does not constitute a guarantee, endorsement, or certification of work quality.
How do I get the trust badge for my website?
Once approved, log into your contractor dashboard and visit the Badge page. You'll find HTML and Markdown embed codes that you can paste into your website. The badge links back to your verified profile.
How long does verification last?
Verification is valid for one year from the date of approval. Contractors are notified before expiration and can renew their verification to maintain their active status.
Can my verification be revoked?
Yes. Verification can be suspended or revoked if we discover inaccurate information, if required licenses or insurance lapse, or if we receive credible complaints about a contractor. However, we will always attempt to contact you first to resolve the matter before taking any drastic measures.
Does ToolboxID guarantee contractor work quality?
No. ToolboxID is an independent information service. We review credentials and documentation but do not inspect, supervise, or guarantee any contractor's work. Homeowners should always conduct their own due diligence.
